Sri Lanka president rejects US court summons

Sri Lanka ruled out a summon issued by a US court in a 30-million-dollar causa citing President Mahinda Rajapaksa about the supposed killing of a youth by the army during the civil war, a report said Sunday.
The Justice Ministry ignored the summons as being in struggle with the country’s own laws, the Sunday Times in Colombo told.
‘We consider that the execution of the request would be prejudicial to the sovereignty of Sri Lanka,’ ministry secretary Suhada Gamlath said.
