OTTAWA – Canada has received the approval of the United Nations to withdraw Libyan assets return of 2.2 billion U.S. dollars, which will be used for humanitarian aid and rebuilding diplomatic mission in Tripoli.
According to Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird on Tuesday (13/09/2011), large sums will be disbursed will be used to rebuild the infrastructure in Libya and pay police salaries, teachers, and other public employees.
