Emerald Ash Borer found in southern Illinois

The tree killing Emerald Ash Borer was recently confirmed in two new Illinois Counties. The beetle was discovered in Marion and Effingham counties. With the two new counties, the emerald ash borer is now confirmed in 20 counties in Illinois. The larvae of the beetle burrow into the bark of ash trees, causing the tree to strive and eventually die.
