The growing season ends in northern Wisconsin

The growing season came to an end across northern Wisconsin last Thursday morning. Temperatures dropped into the 20’s from St Croix to Florence Counties with frost damage reported in Buffalo and Jackson Counties. Even Green County reported 27 degrees in some low areas. This will really get the corn choppers going, 38 percent of silage was already chopped by Sunday, a 22 percent jump from a week ago. 98 percent of the state’s corn crop is in dough, 80 percent is dented and 25 percent mature.
