A drop in assessed property values across Forrest County will mean a millage hike for Hattiesburg residents – but it might not mean higher tax bills for all residents.
During a special-called meeting Tuesday, Hattiesburg City Council unanimously adopted its $104.9 million Fiscal Year 2012 budget, which includes a 2.16-mill increase.
The approved budget is down 7.4 percent over FY 2011, which ends Sept. 30.
