Dr. Herb Ohm, Purdue research agronomist says now is the time growers need to get ready to plant wheat and that begins with proper seed bed preparation and seed selection will pay big dividends when it comes to the winter wheat crop. But the Purdue agronomist also recommends growers wait two weeks following the Hessian fly-free date to not only prevent fly damage, but it will also help prevent foliar fungal diseases.
