Wheat and oat production:
The Ohio field office of the National Ag Statistics Service says that even though the 2011 average wheat yield in Ohio was down 3 bushels from last year, total wheat production in the state was up 8 percent at 49.3 million bushels.
Oat production though took a dive, the average yield of 54 bushels per acre was down 16 bushels from 2010 and total oat production was down 41 percent on 12,000 fewer acres. Total oat production is estimated at 2.1 million bushels.
