April Fools’ Day is coming up this week. There are a number of stories about the origins of the holiday, but the most common is that in 1582, with the implementation of the Gregorian calendar, the date of the New Year was moved to January 1. Anyone still celebrating on April 1 was considered a “fool.” There are plenty of other theories about the origins of April Fools’ Day.
