Armed Forces Bowl,Army wins bowl for first winning season since ’96:The army had to defeat SMU 16-14 Thursday in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl at Gerald J. SMU Ford Stadium.
SMU scored a touchdown on its first two second half drives cut the lead to 16-14, while the third Mustang; drive ended when a 47-yard ball to Matt Szymanski try went wide left with 4:05 remaining in the game.
Army (7-6) converted two-thirds of the fall of the subsequent drive to run out of hours.
