The Federal Aviation Administration last month secretly ordered airlines to remove emergency oxygen from airplane lavatories, MSNBC reported Friday.
The move is to “eliminate a potential safety and security vulnerability” — specifically, that a terrorist could use the oxygen to start a fire or ignite a bomb — according to the agency. It also means people in lavatories would have to return to their seats to get oxygen if the cabin loses pressure.
