Japanese Volcano Shinmoedake Erupts

The Shinmoedake volcano, located in southwestern Japan, has erupted today Sunday, as the country is still dealing with the damage caused by the 8.9 magnitude earthquake on Friday.

The volcano from the Kirishima volcano range is located on Kyushu island, 950 miles away from the earthquake epicenter. According to the Meteorological Agency, the volcano resumed activity today following some weeks of silence, there hadn’t been any major activity reported since March 1st.
