Rod Blagojevich convicted of trying to sell Barack Obama’s old Senate seat

Ex Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich has been convicted of 17 charges, many related to his effort to trade or sell President Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat.
Jurors were stalemated on one charge of tried extortion involving financing for a school in the district of then-congressman Rahm Emanuel.
The jury found Blagojevich acquitted of accosting bribes from a road-building executive. The jury was also stalemated on a charge of attempted extortion on the same case.
