The July heat wave showing up in the nation’s cheese factories, National Ag Statistics Service reports total cheese production in the U.S. in July was 859 million pounds down 2 percent from a year ago. Italian type cheese production was 0.4 percent lower than a year ago while American type production dropped 4.3 percent with Cheddar output 5.4 percent lower than a year ago.
