FDA to launch food safety tracing projects

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says it will work with the USDA and state agencies to establish pilot projects to explore technologies for “rapid and effective tracing of foods.” The projects are a required part of the Food Safety & Modernization Act that went into effect in January. The FDA is partnering with the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) for recommendations on recordkeeping requirements for “high-risk foods.”
