Police spokesman Paul Browne told Brooks was found in his Upper East Side apartment around 12:30pm by a friend with whom he had planned to have lunch.
Brooks, 73, was expecting trial on accuses of harassing women who were tempted to his apartment for reckoned acting auditions.
He pleaded acquitted to assault and other accuses.
The coroner will execute an autopsy to learn the reason of death.
Police said a suicide note was discovered but they did not show its messages.
